Portuguese Law (Diário da República)

Search Portuguese legislation and read any law or code article by article, straight from the official gazette.

Gives Claude the Diário da República, Portugal's official gazette published by INCM. Search Série I and II acts by keyword, type, series and date, read an act's original text, get the consolidated (in-force) wording of a law or code down to a single article with the amending acts, list everything published on a given day, and turn Portuguese citations into exact identifiers. Requirements

FAQ

Is this an official service?

The data comes from diariodarepublica.pt, the official electronic edition of the Diário da República published by INCM. The connector is an independent client: INCM offers no public API, so it reads the same JSON the website's own pages load. If INCM changes the site the connector says so clearly instead of returning stale data.

Is the consolidated text legally binding?

No. Only the text published in the Diário da República (available through dre_get_act and the PDF links) is authentic. Consolidated versions and plain-language summaries are informational aids maintained by DRE; the connector shows the date each consolidation is up to.

Which codes are recognised by name?

The Constitution (CRP) and the main codes: Labour (CT), Civil (CC), Penal (CP), Civil and Criminal Procedure (CPC, CPP), Administrative Procedure (CPA), Companies (CSC), Highway (CE), VAT, IRS and IRC, and Public Procurement (CCP). Any other consolidated act works by its citation, e.g. 'Lei 23/2007'.

How far back does it go?

As far as the Diário da República: Série I text from 1960 onwards and PDFs from 1910. Consolidated versions exist for the most important acts, not for every act.

Is my search history stored?

No. Requests go straight to diariodarepublica.pt; nothing is logged or cached by the connector.
