FAQ

Which rate is this?

The ECB euro foreign exchange reference rate, fixed around 14:15 CET and published around 16:00 CET on TARGET business days. It is the rate most EU tax authorities and accountants use for conversions; it is not a dealing rate.

What happens on weekends and holidays?

No rate exists for those days. The connector returns the previous business day's rate and says which day it used, so Claude can tell you.

Which currencies are covered?

The roughly 30 currencies in the ECB's daily publication (USD, GBP, JPY, CHF, CNY, BRL, and so on), all quoted against the euro. Other pairs are cross-rated through the euro.

How far back does history go?

To 4 January 1999 for the original currencies; up to five years per call, with long series truncated in the output while the summary covers the whole period.
