ENTSO-E Electricity

European electricity market data from ENTSO-E: day-ahead prices, load, generation mix and cross-border flows for every bidding zone.

Reads the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, the official source of European power-system data published by the transmission system operators. Get day-ahead prices for any bidding zone (15-minute or hourly, with the cheapest and most expensive hours), daily price history with min, average and max, actual load against the day-ahead forecast, generation by production type with the renewables share, and physical flows across a border. Country names resolve to the right zone (Portugal is PT, Germany is DE_LU, Italy and the Nordic countries have several zones), and every time is shown in the zone's local time. You need your own free ENTSO-E API token.

FAQ

How do I get the ENTSO-E token?

Register for free at transparency.entsoe.eu, then e-mail transparency@entsoe.eu with the subject "Restful API access" and your account's e-mail address in the body. Once access is granted, usually within a few working days, generate the Web API Security Token under My Account Settings and paste it on the connect page.

Which countries are covered?

All bidding zones in the ENTSO-E area: the EU countries plus Norway, Switzerland, the UK and the Western Balkans, with the zone splits of Italy (7 zones), Norway (5), Sweden (4) and Denmark (2). Coverage depends on what each TSO publishes; Great Britain's day-ahead prices stop at the end of 2020, and some non-coupled countries publish no prices.

Are prices hourly or every 15 minutes?

As published. Since the day-ahead market moved to 15-minute products in October 2025, most zones publish 15-minute prices; ask for hourly and you get the hourly averages. Earlier days come back hourly.

What time zone are the times in?

The API works in UTC; the connector converts every interval to the zone's local time (Lisbon time for Portugal, Berlin time for DE_LU, and so on) and shows the UTC offset on daylight-saving change days.

When are tomorrow's prices available?

After the day-ahead auction closes at 12:00 CET, usually by 13:00 CET. Asking earlier returns a clear "not published yet" message.

Is my data stored?

No. Each call goes straight to the ENTSO-E API with your token and the answer goes back to Claude. Nothing is logged, cached or stored.
