MET Norway Weather

Hourly and 9-day weather forecasts for anywhere on Earth in Claude, from the meteorologists behind yr.no.

Reads the free global forecast service of MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (the data behind yr.no). Ask about any city or coordinate worldwide and get an hourly forecast for the next two days plus a daily summary up to 9-10 days ahead: temperature and feels-like, precipitation in mm, wind and gusts, humidity, cloud cover and UV. It also gives current conditions (with minute-by-minute radar rain timing in the Nordic countries), sunrise, sunset, day length and moon phase for any date, including midnight sun and polar night, and MET's official weather alerts for Norway. About 200 capitals and major cities are recognised by name; any other place works with latitude and longitude. No credentials needed.

FAQ

Which places are covered?

The forecast covers the whole planet: any latitude and longitude works, on land or at sea. For convenience the connector also recognises about 200 capitals and major cities by name (Lisbon, New York, São Paulo, Tokyo, Tromsø...). MET Norway has no place-name search, so for a smaller town give its coordinates or the nearest listed city; the connector says clearly when a name is unknown.

How far ahead does the forecast go?

Hourly detail for about the next 2.5 days, then 6-hour steps up to 9-10 days ahead. The connector returns up to 48 hourly rows and a daily summary of up to 10 days, computed in the place's local time.

Are weather alerts available outside Norway?

No. MET Norway issues official alerts only for Norway, Svalbard and Norwegian sea areas. For other countries the alerts tool says so; check the national weather service or meteoalarm.org.

Where does the data come from, and what is the licence?

From MET Norway's public API (api.met.no): Locationforecast 2.0, Nowcast 2.0, MetAlerts 2.0 and Sunrise 3.0. Data © MET Norway, licensed under CC BY 4.0 and the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD) 2.0; every answer carries that attribution. The connector is an independent client, not affiliated with MET Norway.

Is anything about my questions stored?

No. The connector does not log, cache or store your locations or the answers. Coordinates are truncated to 4 decimals (about 10 m) before they are sent to MET Norway, as their terms require.
