Eurostat EU Statistics

Food prices, inflation and the main EU statistics for every country, straight from Eurostat.

Ask Claude about official EU statistics from Eurostat. The strongest angle is prices: monthly HICP indices for food and its sub-categories (bread, meat, dairy, fruit, vegetables), energy, fuel and restaurants, for every EU country, the EU and the euro area. Supermarkets publish no price APIs, so this is the reliable way to compare how grocery prices move across countries. Also bundled: unemployment, GDP, population, minimum wages, house prices and household electricity and gas prices, plus search across Eurostat's full catalogue of about 9,000 datasets.

Requirements

FAQ

Does this give actual supermarket prices in euros?

No. Eurostat publishes price indices and rates of change (how much prices moved), not shelf prices of individual products. Supermarkets offer no public price APIs.

How current is the data?

HICP is published monthly, about two to three weeks after the month ends (a flash estimate for the euro area comes earlier). Unemployment is monthly, house prices quarterly, minimum wages and energy prices twice a year, GDP and population yearly.

Why does a dataset stop at 2025?

Eurostat replaced the old HICP datasets (prc_hicp_midx, prc_hicp_manr) with prc_hicp_minr in 2026. The connector uses the new one by default; the old ones are kept for history.

Is this an official service?

The data comes from Eurostat, the EU's statistical office, through its public API. The connector is an independent client.
