VIES VAT Validation

Check any EU VAT number from Claude, with the registered company name and address.

Validates VAT numbers against the European Commission's VIES service, the official source for intra-EU VAT registration. Returns validity, the registered name and address when the member state publishes them, and a consultation number you can keep as evidence for reverse-charge invoices.

How to connect

Add it to Claude

Create a OpenJack account and copy your connection key from your account.

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste https://vies.openjack.dev/mcp.

Click Connect. On the connect page enter your connection key and your VIES (European Commission) credentials. They are checked live and stored encrypted.

FAQ

Is this an official service?

The data comes from the European Commission's VIES service, the official source. The connector is an independent client.

Why is the name or address missing?

Some member states (for example Germany and Spain) do not publish names or addresses through VIES; the validity check still works.

Can I keep evidence of the check?

Yes: each valid check returns a VIES consultation number you can store with the invoice.
