Spain Public Data

Official Spanish data in Claude: INE statistics, the datos.gob.es catalogue and public contracts and tenders.

Three official Spanish sources in one connector. INE statistics through its Tempus3 API: inflation, unemployment, GDP, population, wages, house prices, mortgages, tourism and any of INE's ~160 surveys, with a curated list of headline indicators. The datos.gob.es national catalogue (about 116,000 datasets from ministries, regions and city councils): search, dataset details with licences, and row previews of CSV and JSON files. Public procurement: awarded contracts, open tenders and spend summaries for Spanish buyers from TED, plus the live feed of the Plataforma de Contratación del Sector Público for the latest notices, small contracts included. Queries in Spanish or English. No credentials needed.

FAQ

Where does the data come from?

Statistics come from INE, Spain's National Statistics Institute (servicios.ine.es, CC BY 4.0). Datasets come from datos.gob.es, the national open data catalogue run by the Ministry for Digital Transformation; each file keeps its publisher's licence, usually CC BY 4.0. Contracts and tenders come from TED, the EU's Tenders Electronic Daily (free reuse), and from the open-data feed of the Plataforma de Contratación del Sector Público. The connector is an independent client, not affiliated with any of them.

Why are searchable contracts from TED and not from PLACSP?

PLACSP publishes its open data only as Atom feeds of about 500 updates per file (around 13 MB each), with no search API. Searching by buyer, supplier or dates is only practical on TED, which carries every Spanish notice above the EU thresholds. For the newest notices, including small contracts that never reach TED, the connector streams the latest PLACSP feed pages.

How fresh is the data?

Every call reads the source live; nothing is cached. INE publishes on its release calendar (CPI flash estimates at the end of each month, EPA unemployment quarterly) and marks each value as final, provisional or preliminary. TED publishes daily; the PLACSP feed file is refreshed about once a day.

Are there limits on file previews?

Previews run inside a Cloudflare Worker with 128 MB of memory and no storage. CSV files are streamed and reading stops once the requested rows are collected (up to 40 MB scanned). JSON files must be parsed whole and are limited to 10 MB. XLSX, PDF, ZIP and map formats are not previewed; the download link is returned instead.

Can I ask in Spanish?

Yes. Statistics searches understand English and Spanish words, names can come back in either language, and dataset and contract searches work best with Spanish keywords; accents are optional.
